    Zoo Miami (also known as The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens) is the largest zoo in Florida and the fifth largest in the United States.  As the only sub-tropical zoo in the continental U.S., the unique climate in South Florida allows us to care for a wide variety of animals from Asia, Australia, Africa, and the Americas representing a broad mix of species that is unlike any other zoo in the country.

    Animal Care Internship:

    • Gain practical experience in daily husbandry, habitat maintenance, diet distribution, and health monitoring.
    • Limited direct animal contact; focuses on learning best practices.
    • Includes seminars with professionals covering animal husbandry and career development.

    Animal Health and Welfare Internship:

    • Work closely with veterinary staff and learn in the zoo's animal hospital.
    • Gain insight into animal nutrition and welfare practices.
    • Participate in seminars discussing veterinary science and animal well-being.

    Hospitality Internship:

    • Ideal for those interested in hospitality, tourism, and attraction management.
    • Develop customer service, problem-solving, and operational skills.
    • Provides a comprehensive view of guest service areas and community-focused eco-conscious initiatives.

    Requirements:

    • Must be 18+, enrolled in college or a recent graduate.
    • Interns are responsible for their own housing, food, and transportation.
    • Must pass a background check and, for animal programs, provide a negative TB test and meet physical fitness standards (lift 50 lbs.).

  • City of Miami Naturalist Apprentice (Simpson Park)

    The City of Miami is seeking passionate Naturalist Apprentices to join our team at Simpson Park. Interns will welcome visitors, lead educational programs, and assist with fieldwork and habitat restoration.

    Key Tasks:

    • Manage invasive plant species.
    • Maintain nursery plants (watering, repotting).
    • Keep trails visitor-ready.
    • Collect data on plant species and project progress.
    • Cultivate native plants and monitor species.

    Skills & Qualifications:

    • Effective teamwork and communication.
    • Problem-solving and organizational skills.
    • Knowledge of Florida ecosystems.
    • Experience in horticulture, forestry, ecology, or similar fields.
    • Enrolled in or recently graduated from college/university.
    • Public speaking and teaching enthusiasm.

    Requirements:

    • 120-hour (semester-long) commitment.
    • Conduct at least two educational programs by year-end.

  • Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida Internships 2025 College Internship

    Location: Miami, Florida

    Description

    Performs various administrative and clerkship duties for the assigned department. Frequently contacts are made with judges, Clerk of the Courts, Administrative Office of the Courts, State Attorney, Public Defender, private attorneys, law clerks, state and local law enforcement, witnesses, bailiffs, criminal justices, social service professionals and the general public. Work is often of a sensitive and confidential nature. The Volunteer/Intern must observe high standards of conduct. Work requires independent judgment and is performed under the general supervision of a Judge or Attorney.

    Responsibilities

    • Managing the Judge’s court and professional calendar coordinating and scheduling motions, pretrial hearings, trials, conferences, and committee meetings; maintaining trial dockets, continuances and trial orders; assisting attorneys with procedures on filing motions and hearing dates.
    • Provides organizational support for the judge’s caseload, including preparing orders, docketing
    • jury instructions and a list of pending cases; ordering jurors; and coordinating in-house services, such as interpreters.
    • Reviews case files for accuracy, format compliance and completeness before scheduled hearings.
    • Acts as the Judge’s liaison to assist and inform litigants, attorneys, law enforcement personnel, and witnesses concerning court procedure and policy.
    • Screens telephone calls and visitors to the judge’s office; provides information, resolves issues, directs caller/visitor to proper personnel or agency, or takes messages.
    • Performs routine clerical tasks such as reviewing, distributing and responding to incoming mail; performing data entry, ordering office supplies, maintaining files/records, faxing or photocopying.
    • Composes and/or edits correspondence, memorandum, directives, notices, orders, e-mails, and other documents observing strict confidentiality.
    • Researches information on hearing dates for other agencies; prepares notices of hearings for cases put on the calendar by the judge.
    • Interacts with attorneys and litigants and their family members to resolve problems such as scheduling conflicts or other case-related issues.
    • May conduct limited case law research using an electronic database such as LexisNexis.
    • Performs related work as required

     

    Physical Demands

    Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds or more. Position may require significant amount of standing, lifting, sitting down and walking.

    Communication

    Must speak English.  Some positions may require a second language.
